“Received a call from my XU student on Saturday saying his car broke down and he was stuck on the side of the road in Avondale. Got there, jumped the battery but it would not stay running. Looked up auto shops in the area, and found Dave’s Auto Care with many 5 star reviews. As I waited for a tow truck from my insurance, I called the shop at 6:08pm (on a Saturday), just to leave a message that I would be having the car towed there and needed them to take a look at it. However, my call was answered! I told him the situation and he asked a few questions. He told me he’s usually not there on Saturdays but just happened to be, which made me feel way better about randomly dropping a vehicle at an unknown shop. He seemed genuine and not a professional BS-er, also a good thing. Monday I got a call letting me know what was wrong, what was needed, how much it would cost, and a general timeframe (maybe done the next day, depending on parts coming in and other cars being worked on). Tuesday I got a text saying another car took longer than he thought and Wednesday it would be done. Wednesday, he stayed late just to make sure it was done and back to me when he said, which honestly didn’t matter if we got it back that day or the next, but I really appreciate the effort and the work ethic. My son walked over to the shop from XU Wednesday night, picked up the car, and was given a couple pointers about things unique to his car and this repair. My son said he was good and he’d go to Dave’s Auto Care for all future maintenance or emergency issues. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate a good, hard working human taking the extra time to tell my son what to expect from the battery and other potential weirdness that he would otherwise not know (just stuff you don’t know until you run into it and experience it). The communication was great, the price was completely reasonable for the amount of labor, and I would recommend Dave’s Auto Care to anyone who will listen.”

“Excellent service! My vehicle started to overheat out of the blue on highway in KY one night and I immediately pulled off highway and got a tow. First shop I got towed to in OH due to milage constraints on tow was a national brand. Next day I called to explain issue and explained issue with the starter…I wasn’t concerned with starter right now…I plan to get it replaced but depending on time in day it may take a few tries to start (in morning it takes a few tries, in afternoon and evening it cranks right up). Shop calls me back 20 minutes later and proceeds to quote me $1600+ just to replace starter and can’t diagnose other issue until starter is replaced. I told them I was getting it towed to another shop. I remembered a great review a person gave on Dave’s so I had it towed there. Contacted Dave’s gave him same spill as first shop and he called me back affirming bad starter and it did take a few tries but it cranked up. The overheating issue was due to coolant hose being in bad shape and needed to be replaced. He quoted me a price which was beyond reasonable and was honest about his workload and time to complete which could be a few days. No problem! Along the way he updated me on progress and completion. Got towed there on a Monday, he started repairs on a Tuesday and repaired same day. This place takes the worry out of you…he gives you confidence that your vehicle is in good hands and no surprises (bad surprises).”
